<link>http://210.212.227.212:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/107</link>
<description>Appraisal of Munroe Island in Perspective of Tourism Development
Annie, John
Tourism can be defined as: “The activities of a person travelling outside his or her usual environment for a specified&#13;
period of time and whose main purpose of travel is other than exercise of an activity remunerated from the place visited”. The&#13;
present holistic ideas even redefines this as “Tourism was and essentially still is recreational travelling”. ((UNWTO), 2015). The&#13;
Ashtamudi backwaters lies in the second position in terms of tourism activity. The study tries to identify the tourism activity of&#13;
various locations alongside the backwater and promote the tourism potentials. The Munroe Islands has the most visitor inflow&#13;
among these locations and has a wide range of tourism products, owing to its peculiar geographical position at the confluence zone&#13;
of the Kallada River and the lake. The study aims at upbringing the tourism potential of Munroe Islands, ensuring host population&#13;
participation in the envisioning process. Primary study was conducted in the field to identify the status of tourism activities and&#13;
facilities and both visitor and host population surveys was conducted.

<title>Dimensions of liveability and identification of key parameters applicable for Kerala</title>
<link>http://210.212.227.212:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/106</link>
<description>Dimensions of liveability and identification of key parameters applicable for Kerala
Annie, John
Liveability is considered as a guiding principle that shapes the social, economic, physical and biological urban&#13;
environment of any city. Liveability is associated with dimensions like safety, climate, infrastructure, public policies, business&#13;
environment and many more, making the concept multi-dimensional in nature. This characteristic has made the concept difficult&#13;
to define and measure. The paper focuses on the study of various global based indices of liveability, along with different case&#13;
studies from around the world on how people perceive liveability in their area. This study analyses the different dimensions of&#13;
liveability and the various parameters that affect the liveability of a city. The study also tried to understand the concept of&#13;
Liveability with the people of Kerala and found suitable parameters that are applicable for Kerala to assess its liveability&#13;
standards.

<title>Re-development Plan for Commercial Area of Kollam City: Focus on Chammakada and Surrounding Areas of Chinnakada</title>
<link>http://210.212.227.212:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/105</link>
<description>Re-development Plan for Commercial Area of Kollam City: Focus on Chammakada and Surrounding Areas of Chinnakada
Annie, John
Redevelopment is the actual situation and guideline of land uses and designs. The city redevelopment includes the migration&#13;
of organizations, the destruction of designs, the movement of individuals, and the utilization of a famous space (government acquisition&#13;
of property for public reason) as a legitimate instrument to take private property for city-started advancement projects. Over the long&#13;
haul, metropolitan recharging advanced into a strategy dependent on obliteration and more on redesign and venture, and today is a&#13;
fundamental piece of numerous neighborhood governments, frequently joined with little and enormous business motivations. The&#13;
historic commercial areas and their streets are among the most important elements of historical city centres, which puts them at the&#13;
forefront of areas needing appropriate policies to deal with their problems to survive for future generations. A place called Chamakada&#13;
and surroundings, situated at the heart of Kollam city, has been an export &amp; commercial core of Kollam, is considered the area for&#13;
study. The study area identified comes under the AMRUT Scheme of Kollam Corporation. The uncontrolled traffic conditions,&#13;
dilapidated conditions of the existing buildings, elevated pollution levels in the Kollam Canal Stretch, which runs through the Kollam&#13;
City, made the old prominent market spaces lose their pride. The study focuses on Land Use Planning by inspecting the traffic pattern,&#13;
transportation issues in congested areas at peak hours, and the implications of N.M.T., thereby analysing the redevelopment&#13;
implications on Study Area and scrutinizing the significance of commercial space in CBD Area. The study identifies the solutions for&#13;
the commercial redevelopment in the city. The study aims to fulfil the community needs and provide plan for the policymakers, which&#13;
enables proper decision-making.
